Mark 10:11-16 - Be like a kid; it's okay!

So He said to them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery against her.

And if a woman divorces her husband and marries another, she commits adultery.

Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them.

But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.

Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.

And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them.

Parents love their children so it is no surprise that moms would line up with their kids in order to have Jesus just simply touch them, as in a blessing.  The disciples thought Jesus was too important to do things like that but Jesus knew that children had a quality about them that was necessary, even for adults to have, in order to gain the Kingdom.  Kids know they are kids and humbly accept the their status as dependent.

In their humility  kids don't put on false faces but show who they really are before the face of their parents.  Whether they are happy, silly, angry, sad~ no matter what they are at the moment, they are that honestly.  No trying to hide.  In a loving family, the parents accept the kid in all his different moods and correct them as necessary.  In my relationship to God, I must put on no false faces before Him. I must simply and humbly accept my status as dependent upon Him because, when you think about it, I am.

May I always have the humility of a child.  In that humility  I can gain the Kingdom. Amen.
